ok i have 700 dollars to spend and am deciding between a pc or 360. I want a 360 because my friends have them and gears of war/ halo.

well i want a pc because the graphics are better.. for a pc i was looking at the 8800gts 512 mb 3 gb ram and a new strong power suply.

would that max out most games?

and what would u say 360 or pc?

The PC and the 360 are worlds apart, I don't really like comparing them. You're not going to get Halo 3 on the PC for a long time, so if you're a big halo fan, you may as well get the 360, but for better graphics and more games, the PC wins hands down. Your ideas for one are solid, but specifically for the power supply I would recommend the Corsair HX 520W. That amount is plenty, but stick to a good brand like corsair. Cheap crap units like Rosewill or EZCool often break and cause serious damage to your components and/or your house. I mean it.

PC has way better graphics even though halo 3 is gonna come out after a long time from now maybe a year or close to that, but if i had 700 dollars i would go with a pc. you will need a good graphics card though and plus gears of war is for pc too and u can just get a xbox 360 controller for ur pc and its just going to be like a 360 even better. alot of other games are on pc too that are for 360, and plus pc has even more games that are even better for example Crysis.

ill do some pros and cons so you guys understand what i do and dont like.

360 pros: cheaper, no parts to install, all my friends have 360's, much more people online.

cons: break easily, Live is $50, graphics arent as good as pc, not too many great games in 08.

pc pros: Graphics(wowsa!), mouse, very addicting games, counter strike, easy online.

cons: not as many people online, EXPENSIVE, my friends have 360's, parts can break

Not as many people online? I doubt it. Total numbers xbox live is about even, but the best bit is that playing PC games online you aren't up against 5 year olds all the sodding time.
The 'parts can break' scenario is true, but don't forget there's a related upside - you can upgrade stuff.

Sadly on occasions they do, but usually because my team mate is also a 5 year old and simply follows me around. Since he's a crap shot, when I die, he dies. Now I'm no pro at console FPS, My level of experience is certainly not very far into two figures hours, but things like this don't help!

personally, id say if your solely using this money for games, i would say get the 360. i mean yes, pc games are great, excellent graphics, addicting, free online, and such, but its going to be a lot more (money). sure you can build a pc that plays great games, but if graphics are important, then its going to cost more than 700USD (i assume, since mine is like 1000+, not saying it has to be 1000+ though). well now that i actually think about it and calculate it, i think you can run good graphic games under 700. im getting a pc because mines old and i needed something that can play games, convert videos to dvds, watch movies, ect. but if its just for games, you mine as well get a console. id also thing you would be a bigger tv than monitor, so you can play on a bigger screen too.

you would also have to include which games would you want to or rather play.

You can build a solid gaming PC (not inclusive of a monitor, because a console doesn't come with one either) for $600 or so now, hell you can make a half-decent one for $500. Now factor in that PC games are inherently cheaper than console games as well, and the cost difference becomes even more slight.
