Hi all..i have a compac presario which is running wnidows xp home,it keeps restarting at random.I am running the latest version of mcafee security suite and am certain that there is no virus in the machine at all.It will just restart at random,sometimes up to 4 times a day and sometimes only every few days..am at a loss can anyone help with this problem...
Right click My Computer, go to Properties. Click on the Advanced tab, then Settings under Startup and Recovery. Uncheck "Automatically restart". Post back the BSOD error code. Oh, and if you haven't done it in a while, a lot of people don't so don't feel bad...but get a can of compressed air, open that puppy up and give it a good cleaning out. Heat will cause random restarts.
that did the trick thanks morph....it was cloggrd with dust.It hasnt restrted in over 12 hours..and have noticed the fan has'nt run either..many thanks for the help..
I hope all those fans are running now! Heat can/may fry your chip. Any fan not running needs to be replaced ASAP. Xeres
The fans are working and all is fine...no restarts or any probs at all...its a tip i'll remember to..thanks for help on this one guy's...problem solved
