Sometimes when im browsing the net my pc randomly crashes and my cursor seems to change into a blocky graphics thing and everything begins to freeze. I have a sony Vaio PCV-RS420 with an ATI Radeon 9200 (64mb) video card and 1.5gb of ram. Im also running Windows XP.

When I boot up after the freeze occurs i get the "Serious problems has occured" message. It says it has something to do with the files:

    C:\DOCUME~1\Jamaal\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER58d6.dir00\Mini032208-01.dmp
    C:\DOCUME~1\Jamaal\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER58d6.dir00\sysdata.xml

I sent an error report and it took me to a page that said it may have been an ATI Graphics Driver error.

    http://wer.microsoft.com/responses/....2.0?SGD=7da46bd9-398d-4e3e-b5f4-bff7f5578883

So does anyone have an idea of whats going on with my PC?

check for the latest drivers is all i can think of. my friend had a similar problem that kept crashing when he was using windows media player. the driver update fixed things right up. check not only for graphics but also for chip set and other devices.

I'm going to try and reinstall the latest drivers again. For some reason i don't remember uninstalling the previous driver before i installed the new one. Maybe a fresh install might work. BTW, what is a chipset?Where do i find the drivers for that at?

I just installed the latest drivers, it seems as if i didnt have the latest drivers installed or something. Maybe the fact that i didnt uninstall the previous driver may have been causing the problem. I'll test it out and see how it goes.

I updated my chipset (intel 865pe) and my bios (i think that's what it is called) I don't think both were ever updated. Anyway I have been playing music for a while and it hasnt froze up on me yet, so i guess the problem is fixed as of right now.
