I'm having a problem with my PC shutting down while watching a news video on MSNBC. It would play for the times described above then shut down completely and restart.First time it has happened and haven't tried it with any onther videos. Seems to work fine when browsing just when I'm watching a video. My computer is a E Machine T3256 with an AMD Athlon XP processor, and an NVIDIA Geforce4 MX graphics card. I have had this computer for about 3 1/2 yrs.Never had this happen before. I'm thinking that the graphics card may be going out on it or something is getting too hot.I'm not sure. Anyone have any ideas about this?
specs link. http://www.e4me.com/support/product_support.html?cat=Desktops&subcat=T-Series&model=T3256 is the videocard intergrated or fits in a slot?
Do you have the latest video driver updated for your video card? You should update to the latest driver from Nvidia's website.
don't think it is a driver issue but maybe overheating of cpu or videocard. dos the videocard have a fan & if so is it spinning & clean as should the cpu heatsink fan assembly be?
No just the standard cooling fan and I'm recieving updates automatically from emachines and nvidia. Funny thing is, it hasn't happened since yesterday. I went on youtube just to see what would happen last night after posting this and was on there for awhile. Nothing. I did just get home however and noticed today that the computer had rebooted but not sure if it was due to quick power surge or not. Had some bad weather come through this morning.Still monitoring it.
