Hey guys, whenever I burn DVDs my PC slows down big time; browsing the internet becomes a pain. I would like to think my PC is fairly fast so I don't know why this is happening. The RAM usage is about 300 MB and cpu usage is not even in double digits.

EDIT: Once things are onto the RAM though, those programs tend to run fine. Is this because my HDD and DVD writer are on the same IDE cable?

If you're doing an on the fly copy that'll slow things down a lot. If you're just burning a disc from an ISO or files I don't see why it should be a problem.

Go to device manager and check if your IDE channels are running in DMA or PIO mode. if the latter, that may be your issue.

it's always good to have the drive doing the burning and your main hard drive on separate channels.

I'm assuming abuzar would have S-ATA hard drives with a modern PC, but even so the DS3 only has one IDE port I think, so perhaps a S-ATA drive is in order?
