Will this affect the sound much? I am thinking about buying logitech surround sound speakers for my laptop and using it for my DVD Player as well
I don't think it's worth it. The speakers are made to handle the output power from a computer/laptop, not a stand alone amplifier/receiver. Are the speakers powered? You said you want to use them with your dvd player so I assume they're powered speakers. If not, I wouldn't even bother. Just my .02. Scott
Is it a portable DVD Player? If not, I am not sure how you plan to hook up a 5.1 speaker system up to a DVD player with a 3.5MM jack. While you can find 3.5 to stereo RCA cables (search for "cables" at www.partsexpress.com ), it will still be stereo out (IE the old 4 speaker "surround" which was mearly 4 speaker stereo) and there will be near nil for accurate surround reproduction. I have a set of Logitech Z4s for my son's portable player and they are wonderful (alas, only 2.1 though). But if you are looking for 5.1 surround for your HT, I am sad to say it will likely not work well, if at all. Besides, they don't put out enough energy to really function well as a true surround system. In front of your computer from a couple feet away they are great, but in a room... that's another story.
