    Hi folks!
I have a desktop that has an optical line out. I have never used it so I have no clue if it even works.

I want to watch my downloaded movies from my PC and get the best sound possible and the cheapest way possible.

How can I make this happen? What do I need? Keep in mind I am a rookie at this stuff.

If it makes a red light, then it probably works. If it is built into the mainboard, then it probably does not sound very good (no onboard audio does). You can connect this to most receievers as well as some digital speaker systems and TV sets. If you are using a DVI to HDMI cable to connect a HDTV, you usualy get digital audio through this method as well.
