Do you have to be connected to the internet to connect to your xbox? I don't have cable, dsl or broadband. Just dial up ( long story )

I booted up evox w/ disc and now i am tying to connect the xbox to the pc so I can load the dash to the hd. I have flash fxp, I set my NIC to the right ip ( seen in tutorial ) and the cable is right ( different color combo at both ends ) and when I try connecting w/ Flash it doesn't connect.

I have the pc and xbox connected with the cable and no other internet connection is that ok?

What am I doing wrong? The tutorials always have that Internet connection in it????

    Help please!!!

make sure you have your ip address set up, they need to be the same (cept the last digit) i.e. 192.168.1.1 for your pc and 192.168.1.2 for your xbox, then in flashxp make sure you into xbox as your user name and xbox as your password, thats the universal user/password and should be so in evox as well

also use avalaunch, its a more advanced dashboard, but its well worth it, and the easiest to use.

in order to get you xbox to ftp you need to do the following things
    note your xbox ip..
set your xbox... use static ip.... option to yes...
on your pc open network options and choose.. local aera connection... right click it and go to properties there should be an option called internet protocol tcp/ip... double click this.... now set the ip address 3 higher than your xbox... eg... xbox ip 192.168.1.200... ip on pc should be...192.168.1.203.... click ok and the subnet mask should be the same for your box and pc.... now on the xbox dash set your default gateway to whatever your pc ip address is... the one you just typed 3 higher than your xbox.... save settings and exit... reboot box and pc should recognise connection... now open flash fxp... choose quick connect and enter xbox ip.... username and passwords are.... xbox.... for both click connect and you should be in

Did you means the IP of xbox MUST higher 3 than PC ip address?
The normal instruction say the pc was 1 and Xbox was 3.

I couldn't ping the XBOX ip address.I use the crossover cable to connect the pc and xbox, Anybody could help me?

it doesn't have to be exactly 3 up/down from the other IP. As long as it's in the same 'group' and not exactly the same. You could be one off the other IP if you like and it'll do the same.
