PC turning off while in use

    I have an AMD 1900, 1GB RAM, 80Gb HD, NEC 1300 DVD-RW. It has started misbehaving by turning off while in mid use. If I switch it back on again it works fine. I think the problem is related to the power supply or overheating. What can i do to monitor the temperature to see what the temp is when it powers down and what other suggestions does anyone have for how to stop this happening?

    problem appears to be sorted. fan was faulty and i have replaced it
