I have had a problem with my PC where it will turn itself off on startup.
It seems to get further on each time you turn it on, but always turns off at the window logo. Eventually after about 7+ attempts it will come onto the login screen and will work fine until you turn it off again.
First I thought it was a corrupted hard drive, so I completly reformatted and installed windows xp pro, instead of xp home which I had before.
    But the problem still happens.
Is it the power supply, RAM or the motherboard?

Any help would be great, thanks.

It could be a number of things. One check event viewer log. Location:
Control panel- administrative- event viewer - windows logs- system.

Check this as it records any errors such as bad memory blocks or disk errors.

If you have a diagnostic tool built into your BIOS to test the HDD's run it.

The biggest challenge here is it can be a number of different things. Your machine could either have a bad piece of hardware or it could possibly be overheating.
