i have a pentium 4 with an xp installed,
when im turning on my pc, after approx 5 to 10 mins it goes off by itself, is it from the power supply??, the fan of the power supply does not work, its been a while not working and i have never had this problem before, is it from the power supply, or it is somthing else,
    thanks

more than likely is the power supply, it has a heat sensor that shuts off the power if it gets too hot. If you have a spare power supply try swapping out the power supplys to see it it will fix it.

You need to fix it soon, all those abnormal shutdowns will eventually corrupt your hard drive.

    thanks for your reply
im not sure exactly if its from the power supply or the cpu
but im more sure its the power supply, if the fan of the cpu its not working can it be from the cpu, because once a friend told me that the cpu gets heated very quickly and it doesnt let you log into the windows cause it will overheat already, but the computer gets shut off in about 10 mins somtimes more, so what do yo think, because i dont wanna buy a new power supply and the problem is from the cpu, what do you think?
    thanks
