i am running xp pro seems like i get a lot of virus what should i run for protection i use pc cillin right now with no luck
the "Trend Mirco PC-cillin" should work fine do you have it set up for automatic updates.and is it installed correctly also use a good spyware program Spysweeper,Pest Patrol" ad/adware are a few goods ones. CCleaner is a great tool too
yes i update whene ever it asks me to seems like i get alot of trojan virus from downloading sometimes i cant even get the internet to work, last night it said someone was tring to get in to my computer now i just get a black screen when i start up?
i would consider downloading from a different site if your having thoughs kind of problems or NOT downloading at all also get a good firewall or a firewall/router (hardware) thats what i use ,your problem isnt because of the Trend Mirco product its the downloading causing it
your Trend Mirco has a built in firewall ,i have the same program (make sure its enabled) and you can check the log file to see whats going on with it, i also use a firewall/router (Linksys) BEFSX41 and have no problems but i really dont downlaod much as you do, there lies your problem
Firewalls are software, or hardware if you use a router. Google "free firewalls" to get a list of freebies. If you are downloading, run a scan on the file you downloaded before you open it. For your problems now, do ddp's virus killer guide from here: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/251980
AVG isnt better than Trend Mirco not even close thats not his problem its caused by what he is downloading NO virse scan can stop stuff you download and OPEN
zone alarm free version http://www.zonelabs.com/store/content/company/products/znalm/freeDownload.jsp
NO virse scan can stop stuff you download and OPEN actually they can if they block the file from being executed (automatic scanning). The reason i recommended AVG is because its simple to use, updates automatically and has a small memory footprint, as apposed to the memory hog all-in-one programs
I also recommend AVG as it has alerted me to many websites popup ads that try to install trojans that no other a/v program I have used yet have caught. But of course any a/v you use make sure you scan your system restore files and scan while you are not online.
