    Hello all,

I need some help. I have a PC (HP) that I burn movies with using RipIt4Me, DVD Shrink and Nero. I told a friend of mine about this, and now he's interested, but he has a Mac. For starters, he doesn't have a DVD burner and needs one. Can anyone recommend a fairly inexpensive Mac-compatible DVD burner? Is installation difficult or even possible, or should he just get an external drive? What about DVD Shrink and RipIt4Me? Are they Mac compatible? And what about burning software? Will the drive come with Mac-compatible burning software, or is something different needed? Finally, is the process the same? Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello, jerie:

    Optical Drive: Pioneer DVR-112D

External enclosure for the optical drive: ME-340U2F

Search Google Products, PriceGrabber or eBay for the best prices.

RipIt4Me, DVD Shrink and Nero are Windows applications.

1.) MacTheRipper will rip DVDs to the hard drive.

    2.) DVD2oneX2 will compress a VIDEO_TS folder to fit on a single-layer DVD.

3.) Toast Titanium will burn your files to DVD.

If your friend is using Mac OS 10.4.3 or better, the optical drive will be recognized automatically by his system. Yes, steps 1-3 above are similar to the PC world.

    Cheers
