    forgive the non techy jargon.

have just went to switch on pc,light that indicates its on is lighting, but its not actually switching on,and theres no noise what so ever, iepower supply or fan.

getting the no signal on the moitor so its not the monitor, think its knackered tbh but any help would be greatly appreciated.

try another psu as possible you have lost the 12 volt side but still have 3v & 5v. are any of the silver topped can shaped capacitors on the motherboard domed as they are supposed to be flat topped?

disconnect all the cables to the drives to see if they are causing the problem. still try another psu. is any of your friends computer hardware knowledgeable?

    unfortunitely not.

    found this on About.com
Do a quick test of the power supply by holding your hand behind the power supply fan located at the rear of the case. If the power supply is working, you should feel air from within the case blowing against your hand.

    yes but very light.

If you've turned the power switch on but the light is off, this is another good indication that the power supply is the cause of this issue.

    yep this is what happens.

what do you mean by try another psu,i know what the psu is but am not sure what you mean.

thanks for the patience friend,im useless.

that test doesn't mean anything as i've see power supplies whose fans have stopped working but still provided power to a working motherboard. temporarily change psu's to see if current psu is bad or if some other component like the motherboard is bad.
