Hey guys, ive got a laptop HP Pavilion DV7 running Windows Vista Home premium and ive got a big problem ! Ive done alot of research and i didnt find any answers to my problems... This is wassup...

When i boot my laptop, it goes thru the loading process ( green stripes etc ) then after tht, nothing happens, jus a blank screen appears with a movable cursor but thats just about it. I tried to fix this using the recovery disk, , jus no luck at all ! so im wondering if theres anything i could do without formating the drive because ive got sooo muchhhhhh stuff on the hard drive that cannot be deleted ! at all ! work that concerns my university courses !

Any sugestions are greatly appreciated. :)

Can you boot into safemode and do a system restore to a good working date, if not has your recovery disc an option to do a system restore.

Have you tried removing and reseating hard drive and RAM.

Doing some searching on this problem suggests some people have had a simular problem on pavilions and have rectified by removing the battery for an hour and then replacing.

Can you boot into a command prompt with the recovery disk and run chkdsk /f /rthis will try attempt to recover and fix any bad sectors on your hard drive, as it does not look like a video card driver problem if you cannot boot into safemode.
