Using rs232 cable I got with the receiver however for some reason my pc just can't seem to detect it.

I think I am using the correct port. Ports 1 & 4 are "not available" dnupman says and on ports 2 & 3 nothing is found.

    Help please.

A standard RS232 lead and a null modem cable look exactly the same the pin outs are different though. Although your link does say null modem so I presume that it is the correct cable.

Are you just using the cable or do you have a USB adapter as well? Another thing have you tried voxer and what are you trying to flash to your box?

Just search for null modem cable on fleabay they are only a few quid. If you are in a hurry you can get them in Maplins as per my previous link but they are a lot dearer.

Have you tried to use voxer instead of Dnupman. You will find voxer in the Eurovox software folder in Eamos FTA Library at the bottom of my post.

If you have the black 2008 model you must use the critical update with combined firmware (available @ Techno-Source & elsewhere). Start the flash process and when it says waiting on PC disconnect the box power and power up again to start the flash process.

Thanks Fekker. I had too many queries between 2006,2007 models in the middle of this and hence the confusion, as Fekker said the 2008 critical update does not require a loader or any future updates for the 2008 model as it is incorporated into the firmware.

    hi all
    i have a euro-vox max v(black)2008
it all works very well except i am trying to connect it to my pc
i am using a null lead which is connected to a usb as i do not
have the right connection on my pc i have tried dnupman and voxer
but still no joy my pc picked it up and it is prolific usb-to-serial comm port(com 3)
i have read other posts on this forum and other forums i have tried what those posts have recommended but still no joy so what i can do from you guys/gals is
a link to a site where i can buy the board so i don't have 2 use the usb(i'm thinking that must be the problem)unless you know otherwise
or the name of the board
or if any1 else has had this problem and solved it please let me know how you did it or any other help with this problem will be greatly appreciated many thanks.

Just use a friend's standalone pc as this will take the USB adapter out of the equation.
