hi first of all i must say ive had my pc a few years now :

    amd sempron 2500 + cpu
1 gig corsair ddr 400 ram
    soltek slkt600 c1l mainboard
    80 gig maxtor
    geforce 2 mx 440
    sony dvd/rw

its been fine for the last 4 years the only problems ive had before is windows corrupting itself on me thus having to re format which doesent bother me ,

but the other day i booted up and no video display came up so i rebooted and noticed it wasn't posting beeping or anything it just whiiirs away as it would normally sound

ive tried removing battery , clearing Cmos by moving the jumper ,left it overnight , unplugged everything,

also ive got it to bare essentials mobo, cpu ram , still dosent post,

tested ram and cpu in other pc and theyre fine ,

is it the mother board thats packed in?

    anyone ever had this problem

can you try another psu as it could be that the 5 volts side is bad? look at the can shaped silver flat topped objects on the motherboard as they are capacitors, are any of them domed or leaking brown stuff?

if everything else tested ok on other pc's so that leaves the motherboard the culprit. try the motherboard outside of the case to confirm that.

ddp is probably right and i haven't read the hole thread but...did you try to switch the DVI/VGA cable? although its rare sometime the pins get messed up and wont display an image:(

Since no one has spoken about it but are you sure your video card still works? Your computer could be posting you just cant see it?
Try another power supply even though fans work one connection might not work.
Does the Power LED on the motherboard turn on?
Might sound stupid :), but are you 100% sure the monitor works?
Now your list is smaller at least you know that:
    Ram
    CPU
    MB
DVD/RW (Shouldnt cause it to not post)
HDD (Shouldnt cause pc to not post)

    Need to be tested:
    Graphics card
    Power supply
    Monitor
    good luck
