PC won't recognize dvd from my recorder

    Hello everyone this is my first posting . I have tried to search my answer out but not sure if I missed it maybe under a diffrent type of thread but my problem is as follows :

    I have a sony dvd recorder hooked it up and made some recordings played them back in the recorder no prob. but come to realize my PC will not play them it sees the dvd as BLANK don't understand why . I use dvd-R as that is what my burner uses and what I'm used to can someone please help me .

    Sony dvd recorder
    DVD-R (disc)
    I use NERO , Windows media Player , VLC media player
    **just a direct recap**
    PC won't recognize dvd it shows as blank cant play it on PC

    You need to finalize the disks in the recorder otherwise 99% of pc drives will not read them.

    I had the same thing happen to me awhile back, PC would not recognize a disk that I had burnt with my recorder. I couldn't for the life of me figure it out as I had watched it numerous times on my TV. I finally remembered it wasn't full and I had not finalized it yet. So long story short, I would bet that what varnull posted is the problem.

    Ok thank you for the tips I've only had this recorder for a few days so im guessing that finalizeing the disc is and option i chosse in the menus somewhere or is it usualy an automatic function I have my manuel and will be reading through it for that specific topic thank you again for your help..

    On the ones I have used it is an option that you have to manually do, but like you said reading the manual will point you in the right direction. Good luck and let us know if it works out.
