I just set up a whole netgear wireless network in my house and im looking at getting wireless internet on another computer, but here's the deal: i got a Netgear USB wireless adapter and i also got a wireless PCI card to go in the actual computer. Which one would be more benificial for me in the long run and get me a better connection if any? I see it as the USB adapter is nice and small, easy to install so if i upgrade computers i can easily switch it, but would i get a better connection with a PCI card with an antenna on it since it is more connected to the computer? thanks
Honestly Id go with the PCI wireless, becaus ei fyou do upgrade in the future, then you'd be opening your old computer to get at the Harddrive and maybe someother components to put in your new future build. besides it has an attenna.
the antenna will give a stronger signal and slightly more range. depending on what antenna you add on. yeah, id go with pci simply because its built in and easier. installing usb is easier and more portable, but its not as good. usb is portable and easier to install than pci, but is not as good performance.
But let's take into consideration though, it's only a house he needs wireless for. I mean it's not like he needs wireless for a castle. I use a PCI card on my lappie, a USB adapter on my PC and both get the exact same data tranfer rate. Bear in mind my PC is upstairs and router downstairs. I just puchased a netgear router like last week, the 6 inbuilt antennas is abit much
