Hey everyone, happy christmas . I psoted because i have a problem with my PC, i bought a PCI express graphics card, and when i try and connect it to my motherboard - Asus K8V-X - i noticed that it doesnt fit into my normal PCI slot.. Is PCI express differant than PCI, if so is there anyway i can use this graphics card.
PCI express doesn't really have any resemblance to the original PCI bus. Firstly the Original PCI bus was a Parallel data system and the new PCI express is a serial system. It requires that your motherboard be ready for it and the one you say you have is not possibly if that card does not fit in the slot!! Looking at the specs on Asus will tell you for sure :- http://usa.asus.com/products4.aspx?l1=3&l2=14&l3=67&model=237&modelmenu=1 PCI Express is the next replacement for the AGP slot you see in most computer !
That board only supports AGP video cards. Unfortunately, there isn't a PCI-E to AGP adapter, nor would you want one really.
