I have run across what I have been told is a DVD that encodes audio in PCM format rather than AC3. For the life of me, I cannot convert that audio to aiff with any app. All the PCM audio converting software apps give me random noise. No authoring program will accept the VOB or demuxed audio file. HELP. Anybody have a solution??

I gathered that you're trying to convert some existing audio source to PCM audio, but what source/format?

Also... you should note that encoding a DVD with PCM audio, rather than the usual MPEG format, will require a much higher portion of the DVD's bandwidth during playback. You will likely have to lower the bitrate of the video to compensate, or risk a playback nightmare.

Actually I am trying to convert PCM audio from an existing DVD back to a playable format on my computer - one that will import into my DVD authoring program so that I can burn it to DVD-R. None of the authoring apps I've tried will take the PCM audio as is.

Is there a program that will take the muxed VOB files and author a CD from that? Then I wouldn't have to worry about the PCM audio at all.
