pcmcia usb 2.0

a bought a usb 2.0 pcmcia card and it came with a cable that has a usb conector on one end and a small round plug on the other end that that plugs into my pcmcia card what does this cord do and what to i do with it the card i bought from ebay and it came with no dirctions i am assuming that it plugs from my usb 1.0 slot to my pcmcia card but i did not want to do that until i found out for sure the external dvd burner i have hooked into it takes like 2-3 hours to burn a full dvd with the write speed set at 8x i am hoping this cable will cure that broblem any help would be great.
