I bought Gigabyte Radeon HD 4850 a week ago and i have problems with it. I saw on internet that i should get about 11000-12000 3dmarks in 3D Mark 06 but i get only 6500 marks. Another problem in CoD4, i should get about 130 fps with max settings on 1024x768 but my average is 50 fps. And finnaly Crysis it's too slow! I get 25 fps on high settings, again i should get about 60. But i get 25 also on medium and low settings lol. If anyone know what is the problem please help me. My configuration: AMD Athlon 64 3500+, ASRock ALIVE SATA2-GLAN,2 GB DDR2 KingMax ram, 400w PSU no-name. P.S sorry for my English.

it's your CPU. A CPU that slow limits you to around 6000 3dmarks, and wil also hurt your performance in crysis.

Agreed on the CPU. The 3500+ was fast 3 years ago, but you really need a 2.6GHz+ dual core to really use the power of that HD4850. You are bottlenecking it severely.

Call of Duty 4 is crap on single core CPUs. Crysis is the same way. It hates single cores but any dual core will suffice.

I'd recommend at least a 3GHz Core 2 Duo to get the kind of scores you were expecting.

    (relatively)Cheap fix:

    Corsair VX 450W PSU (£40 / $70)
    Pentium Dual core E2200 (£60 / $80)
    Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L motherboard (£50 / $100)
    Corsair 2GB XMS2 PC6400 RAM (£30 / $50)
    Freezer 7 Pro cooler (£15 / $30)
a visit to the overclocking thread (free)

Might not seem cheap, but it's what you'll need to bring this PC up to date.

Exactly the parts I would recommend.

The fastest card I would use for that system would be something like an X1950 Pro or a 7900GT. You should really upgrade the rest of your system or you will never get the performance that card deserves.

And the 400W generic PSU is probably hurting you severely too. Definitely go for the 450VX or similar.

If it isn't hurting now, it could hurt very badly later...

Thank you guys i was thinking that my CPU is the problem and now i will deffinitly change it. I won't buy new motherboard but AMD Athlon X2 6000+ and i don't need new memory because i really don't need it. Also would Fortron 450 PSU would be enough. Thanks.

Can't run an AM2 CPU in a socket 939 board, you need a new board and RAM, and you will need to get new RAM too.
A 450W Fortron PSU might suffice, but get the Corsair for reliability purposes.

I won't change my motherboard because it supports AMD X2 processors. And why would i need new memory i really don't know because i have preety good memory (i think so).

Ah, my bad, because you only had a 3500+ I assumed you were using a socket 939 motherboard (these do support X2s, but only as far as the 4800+). The 3500+ for AM2 was rare because they were so slow by comparison to the modern CPUs of the day, nobody really bought them.
You should therefore only need a new CPU and PSU. Obviously since you're still on AMD it still won't be as fast as a core 2 duo system, but it should get the job done.

I stick with AMD because i think that card and cpu will work better because they are from same company XD. Also i will overclock processor a bit so i will have preety decent CPU hehe. And memory is on 800mhz (enough for me i play on 1024x768). So what PSU i shold buy?

    That doesn't make a difference.
Why do you use 1024x768 for games, is that all your monitor supports? The 4850 can play most games at 2560x1600, 1024x768 makes it hardly worth buying.

I've already told you which PSU to buy, the 450W Corsair VX.

I am going to assume since you keep ignoring me, you can't get Corsair PSUs in Croatia? What brands can you get? I'll tell you which ones are any good.

That's fair enough, but it is written in post number 4, 5, 8 in this thread as well as my last post...

I'm not making a fuss, but try and pay more attention... :p

No problem. Good luck, and I hope you get the performance you were looking for.
