I am pulling my hair out trying to figure out how to permanentl set max DCD/CD write speed with Nero (tried both 7 and 8). I have recently bought a Memorex 20x DVD burner (DVD+RAM 530L v1 5M64) and trying to use 16x DVD+ media disks with DVDFabn Platinum 4.

No matter what I have done to change the max speed (checked and lowered Properties to 8x), Nero what to burn at 18x. This results in a failed burn.

I have a similar problem when burning music CDs. I alway, I alway have to SET speed to something lower each time I burn (primarily to avoid disk errors). Can someone give me direction on how to change this max speed to to something lower than what the drive can do?

You can't set it and forget about it, not with Nero. You need to set the burn speed every time before you click "burn".
