Ok, now i returned the Sceptre 37" and got the Philips 37 LCD.

Everything is fine woth this one, but there is this annoying humming noise that comes and goes. It comes from the back if the TV and is not there all the time. It comes and goes and is very annoying.

I was wondering if anyone else has dealt with the humming noise that comes from the back of the TV.

    Thank you very much...

    Danbury,
I just did the same thing. I received an older version of the de-Sceptre that I had orderd on line this past Monday and took it back to the store the next day. I took home the Philips and I am very happy with it. One nice feature was that I was able to download the latest firmware and apply it from the USB port.

I have not experianced the humming noise that you refer to though.

Yes, we're having the humming noise. I have heard it referred to as RF noise or white noise. We've had it with other tvs, but I'd like to get it resolved. I'm going to start another thread about the humming.

It is iritating that there is no on-screen volume bar. The auto picture feature is sometimes too smart for its own good. Otherwise, this is one amazing tv!

I assume you bought yours at Costco (my church)?

    Danbury,

Don't buy another tv; I don't think you can find a better value than this Philips. I have had the same problem with other tvs, but I believe it has to do with the wiring/cables and is sometimes referred to as a ground loop issue (http://www.smr-home-theatre.org/Ground-Loops/). I further believe that it can be filtered or corrected, but I'm fairly cvertain it's not the fault of the tv. Some tvs have better built-in filtering than others.

I'm afraid I'm looking for the same solution. Take a look at the link I left you. I think the answer's in there, but it is very technical. If I have time, I'll try to figure out what to do. I'll let you know when I get something.

By the way, Philips provides no-charge in-home service. You may want to give them a call and have them straighten it out.

Good luck to both of us.

PS How do you like the Philips in HD? It is amazing!
