I have installed an 8701 into my Dell 4600... it works great as a CD-R burner... but I can't get it burn onto a DVD with the proper format. I've tried several burn softwares with the same results. Also, the drive is listed as a DVD/RW in the directory until I put a blank DVD (Pengo DVD+R cheapie), the drive then switches its label to read: CD/RW. Have I installed the drive incorrectly? It's listed as an 8701 DVD/RW in the directory...

    HELP!?

that might be check the website and make sure that there are no compatibility issuses with you're hardware and you're drivers, there may be a revision driver for you're hardware

other then that make sure the DVDs you are using are compatible with the drive

I can't find a single driver online for the 8701 drive. (Either Dell website or Philips)... I'm using the XP drivers now, mostly because I don't know where to check for updates. The documentation says the drive is compatable with both -R and +R... I'm stuck!
