    Hi All,

I wonder if anyone could advise on the following. I recently purchased an external dvd re-writer to play/backup region 2 dvds as my dvd drive on my laptop is locked to region 1.

The external is playing region 2 dvds fine but now won't let me backup any movies. When making backups I have always used Shrink and had anydvd running in the background. Now when I do the same Shrink keeps telling me the DVD is encrypted.

I did the exact same process with a region 1 dvd on my region 1 locked drive and it worked fine, any ideas? I did go to Philips and upgrade the firmware on the external, could that have done anything. Thanks to all

Make sure AnyDVD has your externel DVD Burrner listed and checked.

Do this by following the steps below...

    1. Start AnyDVD
    2. Double click on the redfox in your task bar.
    3. Click on (Drives) in the left hand list of options.
    4. Click on (Selection) when the Drive option branches out.
    5. Make sure that your External is listed in the window to the right and there is a green check mark selecting it.

    Hi larrylje,

I have already done that and still nothing, thanks very much for the advise though. I took the dvd re-writer back to the stores today and they swapped it over for a new one, I'll see what happens. Thanks
