philips dvdr+rw not reading

    hey my philips dvd player and burner is playing dvds but wont read empty dvd disk

    Yep, Thats what I was afraid of. CMC MAG is the worst and lowest form of media you can buy. It can often cause the problem you are having. Phillips branded media is kinda bad about that and is why I don't recommend it. On the other hand if you get some media that is actually manufactured by phillips (a good example is sony dvd+rw media code phillips 041) it is very good IMO.

    Get some better proven, good quality, media such as verbatum, taiyo yuden, sony, fuji (made in japan), or maxell. Stay away from memorex, hp, phillips, no name brands, and retail store branded media eg. staples, compusa.

    Also your f/w needs to be updated. The latest version is BD10. http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=1978 You could try this first but I still recommend better media because if you do get it to burn it will more than likely degrade in a few months.
