I posted this to another forum on here and haven't recieved any replies so I'm trying it again in this on.

Last week I bought the Philips dvp3140 to play divx/xvid files. So far, everytime I've tried to burn a data dvd it hasn't been able to play the files, but if I burn them to a data cdr, they play fine. I'd really like to use dvd's though.

I've used Nero 8 and Sonic RecordNow Plus, both to no avail.

I'm obviously not setting something correctly and would really appreciate any help. I'm getting tired of wasting discs.

I should also mentioned that I've used at least 2 different brands of dvd's.

You should have no problem burning a data DVD. I use nero with default settings. As part of your next burn, include some MP3 or jpg's. The 3140 should be able to play these as well. This is so to make sure you are getting the DVD data spec's correctly. Before you play these, you should be able to see the files on the screen before you try to play them. Always use a DVD-RW before you burn the final dvd.
