From another forum a user claims: Can this be true? My 5982 plays every Xvid I've thrown at it. I was gonna recommend a 5992 to a friend. Some comments would be appreciated.
Here's a few comments. The avi and divx containers are similar, seems odd that a player doesn't like the avi. Only takes a few minutes to remux avi to divx, no re-encoding necessary. According to this faq, it does play avi: http://blog.techflaws.org/2008/11/01/philips-dvp3260-5990-faq/
