    Hello,
I just bought the Phillips DVP642/37 DVD player.

The 7-8-9-ok-0 region change combination is working fine, thank God.
However when i press 5-6-9-ok (tray open) to check the firmware nothing happens.
I try with 5-6-7-ok too, still nothing (gives me the hand in both cases).
Also, I wasted 3 CD-R discs burning firmware 1109 files on them in different modes, but the player just recognizes them as blank.
Otherwise playng Divx movies and DVDs is fine. I want to upgrade because i need Bulgarian subs for Divx.
Have they changed something in Philips? No more firmware touching whatsoever?
I bought the player Dec. 2006.
    Any ideas?

I guess they removed firmware checking/upgrading option from the newest units.
My 642/37 cannot recognize any firmware files no matter how I burn them on a blank CDR or DVDR.
    That's it.
It is still a great player, my only regret is I couldn't make it recognize modern Cyrillic subtitles for Divx.
