So. My problem is that i can't seem to get a signal from my graphics card to my TV. I'm currently trying to use a DVI-cable from my GF FX5200, by using a DVI->HDMI adapter on the TVs end. The computer doesn't even seem to recognize the TV and the result is always the same: TV shows "No input signal". I've been able to force the TV recognition successfully a few times, but still can't get the picture to show... At all. The TV does support PC-connection. The manual gives the resolutions and etc. so I just don't understand what the problem is! Broken cable? Broken DVI-connector? Broken adapter? Should I waste some 85€s to try a straight HDMI->DVI-cable (nice prices in Finland as you can see)?
have you tried any other source? my stepdads best mate had a philips lcd and that wouldnt recieve sound through hdmi and they said it was a dodgy batch of sockets on the back of that set. 85 euros you can pay that in the uk for a normal dvi lead twice that for a hdmi
I haven't got any other DVI or HDMI devices to test with. The tv has 2 HDMI-connectors and I've tested it on both of them with no positive results. I'm currently considering to stop trying and buy a component cable and a DVI-adapter for it if the problem won't be solved soon. I'm getting really frustrated with this situation. Other option would be using svideo, but I WANT a clear picture. If I've understood correctly the component-cable should give a picture quality close to that of the DVI/HDMI... But I'd really hate to waste more money on it that i already have with those DVI-HDMI-cables and adapters.
This might be too basic, but have you made sure you're on the right input? My tv has 7 inputs and finding which is which can be confusing. Set the output to a low resolution like 1080*720, even if it can do higher. You can try the s-video just to see if you get a connection that way. If not then something's wrong. My guess would be to suspect the converter if the svideo works.
I'm using one of the two HDMIs which are both ok for PC-connection by the manual (and i've tried both). I've tried every resolution possible. I haven't tried, but I'm pretty sure the svideo would work just ok. But I'll try once I get back home on sunday.
