I am interested in buying a Philips X54 laptop but have difficulty in finding anyone who have them available for sale. I would also like to hear from anyone who has bought an X54 and what they think of it. If further information is available on another thread then being very new to this site could someone tell me how to find it?

    hey,
I got an X54 on Thursday and it died on Thurday. I have no idea why as I hadn't connected it to the internet or done anything apart from install Microsoft works but it had some hard drive failure or something and was irreparable. When it was attached to some guy's computer in a laptop repair shop it managed to break that too. I'm fairly sure that's not a typical experience but I certainly wouldn't recommend the computer to anyone!

Hi, I bought a X54 a few weeks ago. Last week it started taking 20mins+ to boot up. After running various disks checks and finding nothing wrong,I decided I had better back up my work. Regrettably, I cannot get on the machine now to do anything. I'm currently trying to use the recovery disk to get it back up and running, but it looks to me like I will need to have it sent back to the shop for repair.

In comparison to another Laptop I have (Gateway MX6640b) which only as a M750 processor and 1GB of memory, the performance has been pittyful.

I think there is a serious problem with the machine and its not just a harddisk issue.

The sound has been very poor.

I cannot recommend one at the moment.
