I am an avid torrent user. When I unpack movies, etc... and convert them over to be played on my dvdplayer, either the program is cutting both sides of the movie off or just the left side of the movie. I have used dvdsanta and isobuster to put them into the 16:9 picture, but they getting cut off at the ends. I only have options for 16:9 and 4:3. Anyone have any idea what Im talking about? and if so, a way around it? Thanks in advance.
DVDSanta has no options. Get a good encoder, and start over, with something that will letterbox properly.
what would you suggest for a good encoder? I also forgot to mention that the torrents are in 16:9 already. I'd really like to watch a movie "whole" on my tv someday.
anyone recommend a good encoder so Im able to watch the film without it being cutoff? Also, perhaps a short guide for the particular encoder would be helpful. Thanks a bunch.
I'm in the same boat!! Only I'm using TMPEG Encoder. Does anyone know then, is it possible to fix that problem using that program? And yes please, someone please give some ideas of encoders! Thanks
Tmpgenc Plus is popular, but slow. Here's how: On the Settings tab, set it to 720x480/576, and 4:3 On the advanced tab, set source to 1:1 VGA, keep aspect ratio 2. This will letterbox the movie properly for viewing on a 4:3 TV. If you ever plan on watching these on a 16:9 TV, then on the Advanced tab, set source as 16:9, keep aspect ratio 2. Other encoders, such as Canopus Procoder Express, Mainconcept, and CCE can do the same thing, but the settings are in different places.
Hmm... I got told by the tmpgenc that it's an illegal dvd? It can only use mpg 1 and mpg 2. After I download the torrent, most of the time they are packed in winrar. I unpack it and out pops a file that normally can be played in wmp. It is in mpeg 3 format. Recently I have tried to use dvdsanta and divx2dvd. Maybe I have to convert the file too mpeg 1 or 2 then use the tmpgenc? I'm quite the n00b at this stuff. I appreciate all the help. Thanks
Im dumb, mpeg 3is an audio format. When I examine the movie it says this: Type of File:Video Clip Width: 640 pixels Height: 352 Pixels Bitrate: 160kpbs Audio: Mpeg layer 3 Framerate: 25 frames / second datarate 171kpbs Hope whatever I typed out helps.
Tmpgenc can't do mp3 audio very well. Extract the audio, using full processing mode, in virtualdubmod, to .wav Load the video, and the .wav you just extracted as the audio.
Hey! Those suggestions didn't quite work. I figured out that you have to play with clip frame and instead of doing full screen, do centered. I did centered keep aspect ratio. Maybe you meant to suggest that but for some reason, I didn't realize that function till now!
No, you shouldn't have to play with clip frame. If the source is the aspect you want it, you should be selecting full screen, keep aspect 2. Centered, keep aspect does almost the same thing, but you still shouldn't need to clip anything, unless the avi has hard coded letterboxing (like those poor quality IRC movies).
It must just be this particular movie Im trying to do. I've done abotu 12 others and no problems at all. I sure did learn a lot though! Thanks for the help!
