Hi Guys - I'm hoping someone has had this issue previously and has a fix please.

When I use Nero Vision to convert .avi files into an uncompressed DVD format (prior to burning) it plays fine BUT whn I burn to DVD I get a 1 or 2 second 'stop' when the disk is played. It's like a very short pause of the picture (sound is fine) when the disk is played on a normal DVD player (or PC dvd player as well).

    Any ideas?

    I'm running UDMA. XP3000+, 1gig PC2700, Abit N7 m/b, 16 speed DVD writer.

    Many thanks in anticipation.

    Giff

    Hello jcrichton.

This can be the result of several things:

    Using poorer quality media.
    Burning too fast.
    Out of date firmware.

Do you know the actual manufacturer of your media? If not, you can use DVDIdentifier to ID it:

    http://dvdidentifier.cdfreaks.com

Around here many of us prefer Taiyo Yuden, Made in Japan labeled Fuji and Sony, and Verbatim disks.

As for burning speed, a good rule of thumb is to limit the burn speed to 1/2 or less of the rated speed of the media.

Without knowing exactly which DVD burner (brand and model number), I can't point you to any firmware updates. DVD Identifier will provide the name and model of your burner as well as the current firmware version as well.
