Better, much much much better !! Close to DVD quality even a 3 hr movie ! Did Green mile, Lord of the Rings, Acapolypse Now and the quality is still great ! Try it out mate
i would'nt say excellent, t2 & the rock (pal version) compressed with dvd2one were quite poor, very blocky, always with long movies i get this result, but if compressing an ntsc version results are far better.
I don't have the blocky pictures ! I do watch these movies on a Widescreen 100hz TV set. Excellent !!! Even the long (3hrs) movies !!!! (and normally I am very critical)
How big is your screen wizkid? And whats the aspect ratio? I have a 100hz sony wega (widescreen) and DVD2ONE always makes the picture blocky even on 1 and a half hour movies that it shouldn't be noticable with, you can still see the blocks clear as day. Maybe you can't see it with a smaller screen, or even if you have a 32 inch tv that is not widescreen the actual picture will be smaller due to the bars on the top and the bottom. I am far from impressed with DVD2ONE. Yes it is convenient, but IMO the degree of dergradation just isn't worth it. The thing i find hillarious is that i have a 1 cd divx backup of the bourne identity, and a dvd2one backup. Guess which one is the best quality by far? DVD2ONE you say? Wrong! I guess to answer your question though, if you are using a smallish TV and it's not that great anyway you will probably not see the blockiness.
cheers rmf at last someone who agree's dvd2one is shit! acceptable for small films but useless for large films. hope someone brings out a decent program for copying dvd's as for now don't bother buying a dvd burner it's not worth it.
Hey guys, I don't think I would say DVD2One is shit, I think you would have to agree that DVD2One and similar programs to it have made a breakthough in DVD compression. Although it still has it's flaws it is stillmuch better than what was availible before hand. These programs will be used to help developers improve upon the existing technology and improve further. However, I am sure that if anyone is expecting the same quality movie that started at 7gig and is now 4gig is living in a dream world. -Coffdog
no the problem is when it compresses and lowers the quality instead of picture looking more like vhs, it lowers it to having square blocks insead of someones face. i assume its because dvd is digital. yeah, good. i watched the rock the other day (dvd2one compressed on dvd-r) i gotta say i didn't know the elephant man was in it! or was it sloth (goonies)!
I have to disagree with most of you. i use IFO MODE and just rip the movie with a single sound track, DD or DTS. i have backed up quote a few movies now both ntsc and pal. try as i may even saving ryans privates looks excellent, what are these block you are experiencing, could it be the media, the memorex dvd-r's i used were no good as the film pixeleated and hung half way through. can you not play back these movies with blocks in them and screen dump it to show me. what movies so i can try it for myself. i am using dvd decrypter dvd2one and nero burning rom using dvd video option, load the vobs and off you go. i would say 95% quality. maybe i need glasses but i am usually quite good at spotting artifacts especially on sky that can be really bad at times.
RNF: I did Bourne Identity too with DVD2one. The quality is excellent on my WIdescreen (70cm)100hz. I hear more people complaining about the quality and some sort of blocky pictures. Never had that !!!! Don't know what causses it ....
Yea, I use ritek g03 media for my pioneer burner, and I have only had one problem, with blocky picture, and that was with the sopranos season series. I assumed since it was over 7 gigs. I could tell the quality got kind of blocky, but I have never seen blockiness in any of my movies, most of them are under 2 hours.
SGDVD, You are a moron or you have very bad eyesight or you are high on something. I've compressed long movies before and they're pixelated, but it depends on the quality of the original. Even with the pixelation, it is totally fine and definitely better than VHS and this is on my Sony 57" XBR HDTV Widescreen (not exactly a crappy TV) and a Sony Progressive Scan DVD player. If you're thinking about get DVD2One - I'd say go ahead - it's worth every penny. I've done over 200+ DVD backups now and I watch them exclusively. I don't even notice that they're backups. Quit giving people false information.
who you callin a moron? you c**k sucker. i take it you are american? yeah! i ain't had no probs with ntsc movie backups through dvd2one, dude! actually ntsc movies back-up perfect but pal movies become blocky if they are above 2 hours long, dog! so answer me this one, ye feckin beaut!
I'm not here to argue with American or Australian : ) But [bold]ABMone [/bold] I would highly recommend DVD2One. All you will notice...and this is sometimes , is that you will get slightly blocky pixelation when perhaps white writing on a black background starts fading out. Much like when 'The Simpsons' is on the clouds in the background (is SKY capping bit-rate or bandwidth during peak viewing) (P.S. I have done 'Attack of the Clones' and 'Phantom Menace' PAL R2 and got amazing quality
