    Most of those programs have been designed for olders Windows O/S --- On Xp some will not work or will create quirks in your others applications -- Be Careful after you install , if you see weird things with your PC -- uninstall it !

    Here's one that was used not so long ago -- it is FREE -- look down the list for Tz Connection Booster here :- http://www.trackzapper.com/download.html

    Have a great day !

    I'm not too sure what you mean by being online longer and keeping from being disconnected. Are you talking about a dialup that will kick you out if you spend too long reading or looking at something? If so, here's the trick that I use to use:

    Set up Outlook Express as a pop3 for either your're email address or set up a yahoo email address. Set up outlook to check for email every three mins or so...something short. The moment you get online, minimize the home page, open outlook express, minimize outlook express for the rest of the time online and proceed online as normal. With outlook minimized, it will check your email automatically every two mins or whatever you set up. You can take as much time as you like reading or whatever because the outlook checking email every two mins will make the ISP sense activity and keep them from kicking you automatically.

    This always worked like a charm but I've had DSL for quite a while now so I don't know if the dial up ISPs have gotten wise to it....Gerry

    @Glitched
    Just talked to one of my unfortunate friend who cannot get a broadband connection and is stuck with dialup !

    you can get this for FREE : http://www.softaward.com/9424.html
    and it will work with Windows XP

    @gerry1

    Your way of doing it has long been blocked by most ISP ! Stay Alive programs have been around for a long time , they do not bother an ISP as they only send a ping request to a few URLs !

    I dont use that program am on optical fiber ! But I would assume you are given the choice of sending to HTTP URL's or Pinging addresses - maybe it's best you try either one and see if it delivers what you have in mind. My friend is away on vacation or I would have phoned him to inquire.
