Recently I just tested my firewall Zone Alarm (free version) with 'Shields Up' and whislt it seemingly passed most rests it did not pass the 'ping' test which then indicated that I was not stealthed on the internet leaving me open to people to try and gain access to my computer. The text for the result is below:

Ping Reply: RECEIVED (FAILED) — Your system REPLIED to our Ping (ICMP Echo) requests, making it visible on the Internet. Most personal firewalls can be configured to block, drop, and ignore such ping requests in order to better hide systems from hackers. This is highly recommended since "Ping" is among the oldest and most common methods used to locate systems prior to further exploitation.

I admit that I do not fully understand firewalls and pinging so can anyone tell me how to block being pinged or to over come this with the firewall Zone Alarm (free version). I have been thinking of switching to Jetico firewall as it obtained great reviews in the lastest leak test but would rather stick with Zone Alarm as I have already 'taught' it too many exception. Thanks for helping.

Open Zone Alarm Main menu and click om “Firewall” in the left pane.. Then set Both the Internet Zone Security and the Trusted Zone Security to the High positions… Stealth mode.

    That will probably do it..

Gee, You got me… There are just not that many settings in Zone Alarm and that’s all I can think of except maybe, uninstall and re-install… See if that works..
