    Help!

I've used a head cleaner and am still getting horizontal pink bars appearing across the playback on my video camera. It's a Samsung mini DV.

Thank you for any help, Lauri

Are you getting them on all miniDV tapes that you use?

yes, I am. However, I decided to just continue running the head cleaner routine several times. After about the 6th or 7th time, it seems to be starting to clear up. The pink bars are gone. Still choppy but will try a few more times. Also used spray air on it.

If you have used the camcorder a lot, the heads may be headed south.

    Edited for spelling error.

I'm not sure what "a lot" is. I was transferring a tape and that took the hour that the tape is. Maybe there are faster ways to copy a tape onto a disc than I'm doing? I have 4 tapes to do. Any ideas?

    Thanks, Lauri

Do you use the camcorder a lot? I don't know what else to tell you, but video capture is 1:1, meaning 1 hour on a tape is going to take you one hour to capture to your hard drive.

And, you need a firewire connection, between the video camera, and your PC.

I do use a firewire connection. This is the first set of tapes I've made onto DVD's. Do you know the best way to make copies?

Are you capturing to your hard drive, first? If not, then you have a problem. Burning, "on the fly", has never been a good idea.

What program are you using to burn to a DVD?
