I posted a problem a couple of days ago and nobody has touched it.
-my 104 burner just will not recognize dvd (not blank dvd-r or dvd-rw or pre recorded or burned) but will do everything with cd's. I have re-installed hardware and firmware with no success. If I put the drive back into the old pc (with all original software still installed)the result is the same. thanx in advance-
Is it too hard or did I just ask the wrong quetion in the wrong place.
Can anybody make a suggestion...... please

My feeling is that your drive is shot.

You've already tried installing the drive into a different PC with no results. Perhaps installing the drive into a friend's computer who has a working DVD burner just for comparison?

Perhaps just reformatting the HD and re-installing your OS? (Last resort.)

I don't think it looks promising but good luck!

Thanks Whassup. I had considered a hd format but decided to buy a new burner. I will continue my attempts to fix my pioneer but 'for now' the new sony Sony dru 510ak is doing everything better and faster than the pioneer ever did. If anybody can give more info I would be very grateful.
