I tried to update the firmware on my Pioneer 107D with the patched 118 revision (116 previous) and the DVRFlash says no Kernel and stops. Here's what it displayed: Commandline: DVRFlash -v E: R7143107.118 Reading firmware 'R7143107.118'... firmware is of Normal type <Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-107D 1.18 > Drive Information: Description - PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-107D Firmware Rev. - 0000 Firmware Date - 00/00/00 Manufacturer - PIONEER ! Drive is in kernel mode ! Additional Drive Information: Interface type - ATA DVR generation - 0007 Kernel type - GENERAL Kernel version - 0002 Firmware and Drive type mismatch If you want to convert your drive, you need to suppy both Kernel and General I cannot eject the drive door and after a reboot, the drive shows up in My Computer as a CD Drive. Device Manager still shows it as a Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-107. I ran Nero Info Tool and it shows: Type: CD-ROM Drive Firmware Version: 0000 Buffer Size: 200 KB Date: 00-00-00 Serial Number: ? What can I do to revive the drive and get it back working again? MANY Thanks! Sonic
Anyone out there who can comment? Is my drive toast? I need to make some important DVD-R's in the next couple of weeks for work and I either: A: Need to correct the problem with this drive B: Buy a new one and live with the fact that the firmware glitch killed my drive Thanks!!!
Well, some progress & success (sort of). I flased the kernel and firmware for .116 and the drive came back to life & will burn again. It is no longer shown in My Computer as a DVD-RW Drive. It is shown as a CD-ROM. I opened Nero 6 and it is correctly identified as E: PIONEER DVD-RW DVR 107. It is also correct in Device Manager. What do I need to do in order to get it back correctly in My Computer? Sorry for all the stupid Newbie posting, I just need a little help and I'm back in business. Thank you VERY much! Sonic
Well, all is well and back to normal. After performing a Windows Update & two reboots, the drive is (semingly) functioning correctly and is back in My Computer as DVD-R Drive E: I hope this info may help someone else who may experience a problem. Sonic
