pioneer A05- illegal medium/error writing lead out

    I just received my pioneer A05 and tried burning a memorex dvd-r at 1X and did fine until it started to write the lead out and then boom. I get an illegal medium error and a writing failed error.

    Using Nero 5.5.10.35

    The disc works fine on the computer and a standalone except that the menus do not work.

    Any ideas as to what I can do to prevent this from happening again? Any one have this happen to them?

    I have not upgraded the firmware yet. Any idea how I can check which firmware version it is?

    Got that too, but didnt have a problem playing it back - changed to recordnowmax 4.50 and problem solved.
