I upgraded to Windows XP some time ago but haven't tried to use the DVD player in a while. IT will access CDs with out any problem but will not acknowledge DVDs. I put one in and it acts like it's empty and tells me to put a DVD in the drive.

I've fiddled with it for a bit but think my software and hardware aren't fully compatible. Is there an updated driver for this unit for XP? Any other ideas?

It shows it as a Pioneer DVD-ROM-115. Properties indicate it is working (and it does read CDs with no problem). Region is 1 which is correct. I've tried updating the driver several times with no noticable effect.

try uninstalling the drive from the device manager than restart windows so it can load it's driver. use a cd/dvd cleaner disk on the drive
