I just got an external DVR-106D for Christmas. As it is the first burner I have ever owned I don't know what is normal during play/record as far as the noise level produced by the unit. During play/record the unit produces a very loud buzzing sound that is so loud I am unable to hear anything on my speakers. It is not the cooling fan because it runs fairly silent. Does this indicate some type of defect?

    Thanks in advance....

Is there anyone out there. Or are we all still playing with our new Christmas toys.

Well I think that Christmas is not the right time to be in a forum.
I have the same Pioneer and it does not create more noise than my DVD when I am playing a disc. Is the sound coming from the device or the PC speakers? If it comes from the speakers then try to move the DVD-R away from your sound card, if it comes from the device, I suggest you have it checked.

    Thanks,

    I'll return the unit.
