I have a sony Vaio desktop comp and was wondering what I needed to update my firmware for this DVR DRIVE? My current version is 1.10 and I know there is version 1.20 now.I don't know what program I need to flash this drive and I don't know the steps either. If anyone can help I would be greatly appreciated.
The reason I want to update my firmware on this drive is because I just purchased some Verbatim 16X DVD+R discs with the writable surface and I don't want to burn my DVD drive. Please help.
    Thanks

I was hoping that would not be the case.

You may want to try the Sony site to see if there are any firmware updates for your particular model. Go here and enter your model #:

    http://esupport.sony.com/

Or you could call Sony technical support and ask them for help.

Also it may be possible to update with a hacked firmware from some of the unofficial sites. http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=1898
Sorry, I had this same problem with my Sony VAIO and its Pioneer 106D installed. It was the oem version and sony said contact pioneer and pioneer said contact sony.
