i've got a problem with my pioneer dvr-108. it's been some months now that it wont burn anything at more than 4x (even if both the burner and the media are capable of up to 16x). any help? also, i downloaded the firmware update from pioneer site but it doesn't upgrade, it just shows me this.

at the moment i have 1.18, the upgrade would give me 1.20.
    what can i do?
    please i need help.

    Hi and welcome :)

Ok let's start with your media/burn trouble. You say you cannot burn any faster then 4x. Well it is adviseable not to anyway. Burning too fast can result in bad burns. Eg in movies it can create skipping in the video or lack of quality in either sound or video. This isn't an issue rly. However, the lack of updated firmware with new disks could be the reason for this.

    Now as for your firmware...
I want you to try and update your drive with this firmware - 1.19
    here

The error means the firmware cannot find your drive to update it.

If your problem persists get back to me...

~~edit~~ I realise the firmware you have is correct, but this is the firmware for the release before, 1.19, try to update with that.

Ok, make sure there is no disk in your drive when trying to flash.

Also is this a retail drive? Or an OEM drive? It will be OEM if it came in your PC and if not it should have stated at the time which it was, OEM or Retail.

EDIT: DO you have any more info on your drive, such as more model specs other than DVR108, is it an AXL/BXL/EXL? Or a plain DVR108.

Run Nero info tool to work this out. Found in aD's software section.

Ok, there we go. Your PC is a medion, and the latest firmware for the Pioneer OEM in a medion PC is 1.18. So no update for you.

Lol hope I cleared it up for you :)

BTW flashing is the name given to updating your firmware.
