Turn off Caps as that is considered shouting.
Is it a media issue for blank DVD-R or +R only? Does it read store bought DVD-ROMs? Is firmware up to date?

Could try updating firmware but it doesn't sound good as should be able to read those store movies even with outdated firmware.

I Read your Problem and I have that exact same Burner.
I think your problem is not burner failing to read the Disk but rather not having the right software or some kind of plugin or something like that even I am not sure why but the way that I fixed the problem was by using the google search and puting in Cliprex DVD
and then finding that program and Downloading and installling it. Dont worry it is a free to use program and once you have it you can also watch your DVD Movies with Windows Media Player. Hope that Helps bye.
