Pioneer DVR 109 and Taiyo Yuden

    Are Taiyo Yuden DVD-Rs compatible with the Pioneer DVR 109 burner? Or do I have to get a firmware update? And what's the difference between regular Taiyo Yuden DVD-Rs and Taiyo Yuden 4X DVD-R Media General Purpose Version 2.0 DVD-Rs?

    Im preety sure they are i bought a spindle of 50 havent used them but i have the DVD Burner mentioned in ur post and ive tried varouis media with no probs...

    TYs work like a CHARM on the pioneer dvr-109...mine is crossflashed btw recently, BUT, even before on the 1.57 firmware...the drive LOVES TY media~

    no difference in the TY u mentioned, just the "regular" ones are rated at a higher speed...ie. 8x or 16x :) good luck~
