First, I want to thank everyone who is willing to take their time to answer what, to them, are probably some really stupid questions. I have been searching the internet, trying to figure out what is going wrong with my burns but cannot find the exact same scenario. I thought it was a Nero problem first because it didn't seem to realize the burner was there. Then, I decided it's probably the burner itself because, when I put a blank DVD in, the autoplay option comes up to burn a CD, not a DVD. However, when I put a recorded DVD in, the autoplay option comes up & recognizes a DVD. I hope someone will be willing to translate the error log & tell me if there's anything that I can do short of buying a new burner. I checked the firmware for the burner & it is the most current offered. I've also tried different types of DVD+Rs and have the same problem regardless. I have read of others having problems with these burners but am hoping that it's a software issue. I've tried uninstalling it & reinstalling it, didn't help. The odd thing is, Nero doesn't even seem to realize it exists when I try to burn through Nero--it doesn't even offer the burner as a destination. When I use Shrink & back it up, the burner is listed. Some things to point out. Looks like a lot going on here. Try not to multitask during the burn process as you want to keep enough memory free. This is junk blank media. CMC MAG is bottom of the barell. Use the good stuff. Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim. Your burner is not fond of your choice in blank media. Try adjusting these things and post back with the results.
