I recently purchased a new Pioneer DVR-111D and installed it in my power mac G4 mdd running 10.3.9 I set the drive to cable select and installed it in place of the stock drive.
It is my understanding that when I first put in a region 1 dvd I should get a message box up asking me to set the region I wish to use this drive in.
Instead the drive spins up make some clicking noises the spits the disk back out,I have reset nvram and repaired prefs but noting helps.
what am I doing wrong, please help.
Thanks in advance to anyone who might be able to help me.

Does your machine see it as a DVD burner? Is the disc you are putting in in good shape?

And, no, I've never had a pop-up asking me to set my region. I'm thinking you have an improperly-installed, or maybe defective, drive.
